Intro to Portrait Sculpting Class

Due to popular request, I have decided to run my first instructional class!

Introduction to Portrait Sculpture

Come experience the joy of sculpting from life with clay! It is very therapeutic to work with waterbased clay, and it is very inspiring to work from life with a model. You will gain practical skills, as well as a greater appreciation for the beauty of the human face :)

In this 5 week course you will learn how to make a face out of a lump of clay!

We will cover:

- basics of making an internal armature that will support a portrait
- how to take what you're seeing on the model and shape it in clay
- how to observe and block in large proportions of the face
- some key anatomical features of the face and neck (muscles and skull)
- how to prepare the sculpture for firing

It is suitable for those with no sculpting experience at all, and for experienced beginners :)

This will be a fun and focussed class, with demonstrations and lots of individual attention.
